Can I Produce a 24/7 Stream?

We understand many customers are not necessarily livestreaming specific events, but rather broadcasting a linear 24/7 channel. Our platform does allow customers with a Customized Enterprise Plan to do this but we do have some general recommendations on doing so.

As a best practice, we recommend regularly restarting your stream to ensure any archives of your stream do not become corrupt due to file size, connectivity issues, or any other interruptions that may occur.

Most encoders will require you to restart manually. However, Livestream Producer has a setting that can do this for you automatically. This can be found at the bottom of the Desktop Preferences menu.

By default, it is set to restart every 24 hours. You can change this to any hour interval you wish; our recommendation is four hours to ensure an optimum playback experience for your viewers.

Once you save your settings, go live with Producer. When your stream reaches the four-hour mark, it will stop and restart immediately to the same event page, ensuring no content is missed. The VODs will save to your event page as draft posts, which you can later publish if you wish.
