Best Practices for Using HD Plus (1080p) on the Broadcasters

With the Broadcaster mini and Broadcaster Pro, you can produce a single-bitrate 1080p Livestream when selecting the HD+ quality settings.

Using the HD Plus setting on the Broadcaster mini and Broadcaster Pro will generate a stream using the following specifications:

  • Resolution: 1920 x 1080 [when using 1080p source]
  • Video Bitrate: 4000kbps
  • Audio Bitrate: 192kbps

In order to use this setting, the following must be true:

  • 5 Ghz WiFi connection is recommended [dedicated if possible]
  • Upload speed of 6 Mbps or higher
  • 1080p Video Source

If a 1080p video source is not available, the stream will match the frame size of the input source.

For example, using a 720p60 input source will result in a stream using the following specification:

  • Resolution: 1280 x 720
  • Video Bitrate: 4000kbps
  • Audio Bitrate: 192kbps

Supported Video Input Formats for HD Plus at 1080p:

  • 1080p23.97
  • 1080p24
  • 1080p25
  • 1080p29.97
  • 1080p30

Note: 1080i sources will default back to the HD [fixed/adaptive] setting due to processing hardware restraints on the Broadcaster mini and Pro.

When attempting an HD Plus stream on a 2.4 GHz connection, the results could be random, since the wider supported format may result in interference from other devices. We recommend utilizing a 5 GHz connection to prevent this from occurring.
