Streaming Quality and Bandwidth Requirements
To broadcast through Livestream we recommend using a wired connection with an upload bandwidth of at least 700Kbps for normal quality. You can test your connection speed at www.speedtest.net. Bandwidth fluctuates constantly (especially on Wi-Fi and mobile networks), so running multiple tests is recommended.
We recommend that your available upload speed be at least twice as your total stream bitrate to allow for normal fluctuations in bandwidth.
The chart below shows the minimum recommended upstream connection speed for encoding at various video qualities.
Total Bitrates for Each Quality Preset in Producer
For Stereo:
Mobile: 198Kbps
Normal: 446Kbps
Medium + Mobile: 876Kbps
High+Medium+Mobile: 2632Kbps
HD+Medium+Mobile: 3196Kbps
HD+High+Medium+Mobile: 4952Kbps
Optimized gaming mode: 969Kbps (Windows Only)
For Mono:
Mobile: 174Kbps
Normal: 446Kbps
Medium + Mobile: 788Kbps
High+Medium+Mobile: 2416Kbps
HD+Medium+Mobile: 2948Kbps
HD+High+Medium+Mobile: 4576Kbps
Optimized gaming mode: 648Kbps (Windows Only)
The number presented next to each quality present represents an average bitrate. Still images may stream at lower bitrates, whereas high-movement events (e.g. sports) will likely stream at higher bitrates.
