Broadcast Quality and Input Sources for Livestream Producer

Last updated on Jun 15, 2015 11:07AM EDT

1. Streaming Quality and Bandwidth Requirements
To broadcast through Livestream we recommend using a wired connection with an upload bandwidth of at least 700Kbps for normal quality. You can test your connection speed at Bandwidth fluctuates constantly (especially on WiFi and mobile networks), so running multiple tests is recommended.

We recommend that your available upstream bandwidth be greater than your total stream bitrate by at least 200Kbps - 300Kbps to allow for normal fluctuations in bandwidth.

The chart below shows the minimum recommended upstream connection speed for encoding at various video qualities

4. Selecting Your Video Source in the Livestream Producer App:

i. Choose the video input device: Click on the "import source" button below the "Go Live" button.

ii. Select the correct input source and resolution: When using an external capture card you will need to select the correct input source and video resolution for Livestream Producer to recognize video coming from that video source. Once the correct source is selected a preview will appear in the video input preview.

iiiThe audio input source(s) can be configured through Producer’s audio mixer (under the audio tab of the preferences menu).

Troubleshooting tips: Are you getting a video signal in Black Magic Media Express?

If you are unable to detect the DeckLink card or other Black Magic capture device, open the Black Magic Media Express software that came pre-installed on your Black Magic device.

Select the 'Log and Capture' tab to display the video input. Click Edit on the menu bar at the top of the program and select 'Preferences', then confirm that your Project Video Format matches the format of your video source.
